I’m really looking forward to spending Record Store Day with the crew from the Oshkosh Exclusive Co. on Saturday! We’ve got a diverse group of bands playing over the course of the day, so there’s something for all. We’ll also be playing rock n roll trivia between bands and giving away prizes. There will also be a Rock Band contest hosted by a local video game store. There will be tons of giveaways and get sales to take advantage of too, so make a point in stopping down and saying,”Hola!”

Got the day free and in the area? Here’s the address: 318 N. Main St. Oshkosh, WI. 54901 (414) 235-1450

Rock Sellout Presents: MR RUSSIA

posted by Kip @ 16:13 PM

As the weekend approaches us slowly, I thought I’d take a few minutes to plug what’s on my agenda. I’m pleased to report that Chicago’s MR RUSSIA will be driving up from the Windy City to make two appearances for us! The band will also be releasing their debut album Teething (Lens Records) on Valentine’s Day. Now, that’s love!

The band recently released a video for the song “Skipping Hearts” which was directed by Bill Holland. Click play below and check it out:

The first show is on Saturday night following the Fox Cityz Foxz roller derby bout. While there is no official start time for the event, if you arrive by 10pm you won’t miss a beat. Here’s the venue and address:

2.14.09: Slugger’s Sports Bar: 2222 E Northland Ave, Appleton, Wisconsin 54911

$5 at the door of Slugger’s Sports Bar (Budweiser Room) or FREE with ticket stub from the Foxz derby bout. Bring me a Valentine and I’ll give you a sloppy kiss (tongue optional).

Sunday’s show will be held at The Exclusive Co. in Oshkosh. Show starts promptly at 3pm.

2.15.09: The Oshkosh Exclusive Company: 318 N. Main Street, Oshkosh, Wisconsin 54901

I plan on buying the troops pizza from Cranky Pat’s following the instore. Bring me a Valentine and I’ll share a slice. I’m sweaty, single, and ready to mingle…help a fellow rocker out for chrissakes! :)

Jammer? I Just Met Her.

Those of you who have been paying attention are well aware that I’ll be helping book the bands for our local roller derby league’s afterparties. I’m pleased as punch to announce that Saturday night is officially their first bout of the 2009 season! My ass is ready for the discomfort of the suicide seats, believe me.

This month’s afterparty band is none other than Green Bay’s Beach Patrol. I love these guys! While so many bands are busy being “cute” by sampling, remixing, and buying studded belts at the local Hot Topic these guys are honing their chops, packing beers, and beating the shit out of their instruments onstage.

I think the spirit of this band is captured best in the liner notes of their first album: “Beach Patrol is eternally grateful for Pabst Blue Ribbon, Kwik Trip hot dogs, and The Blackstone.” Heh. I never had the pleasure of spending time with The Replacements during their heyday, but something tells me this has to be close.

The afterparty will be at the Checkered Flag (map) in Appleton, WI @ 10pm. Hope to see you there!

Here are two from their debut full-length, It’s Only Greener ‘Til You Get There:

Rock Sellout Presents…

posted by Mark @ 21:31 PM
April 28, 2008

Well, now that my house move is pretty much done and dusted…I’m back!! So, the choice for my first post is kinda easy, as over the last few months I have been putting together a series of events. I’m proud to announce that after a lot of sweat and toil the lineup for the first in a series of Rock Sellout.com presents is now complete! The line up, I’m sure you will agree, is a pretty broad spectrum of talent. All the bands have featured on the site over the last few months.

kabeedies

This is a hometown gig for the wonderful Kabeedies. They played an amazing single launch show for the debut “Lovers Ought To” at Norwich Art Centre last Thursday night. Expect crowd surfers galore and general mayhem but most of all expect fun…they certainly know how to enjoy a gig!

Also featuring on the bill are the outstanding talent that is Lowline. This Manchester band I introduced to the site are creating a stir in all the right places. I tip them to have a swift rise in 2008. Also on the bill are The Loyal Few. They are a solid indie pop combo.

I’m pleased to announce this afternoon the addition of Rupert who have pulled the plug on another engagement to play for us. I will be keeping you all posted on the June show which is all but finalised as well. The venue we are using is the B2 in Norwich. This purpose built venue at the back of the Brickmakers Pub holds 200 and was voted UK Music Pub of the Year in 2007.

Doors are at 7pm. First band on at 8pm. The price is only £4.00, so get along…tell your friends and enjoy!
