Brooklyn’s The Antlers will self-release their new album, Hospice, on March 3rd. The effort will be available to download digitally or as a limited edition CD.
The album is the follow-up to 2007’s In the Attic of the Universe. The blogosphere was quite affectionate of Attic and it wound up on many best-of lists. Successful stints at CMJ and SXSW also helped develop the band’s fanbase.

The Antlers began as Peter Silberman’s solo bedroom recordings and arrangements. Hospice will mark the first time he’s actually assembled a group of contributors to help with the recording process: Darby Cicci (trumpet, bowed banjo), Justin Stivers (bass), Michael Lerner (drums), and Sharon Van Etten (guest vocals).
Hospice started as a concept album. It was an attempt to answer for Silberman’s disappearance after he relocated to New York City in 2006. The simple explanation soon became a much larger entity. After two years of writing and recording, the album is finished and will soon be patiently awaiting your undivided attention. Until March 3, here are a few tracks to whet your whistle:
