You can’t even begin to imagine how happy I was when my friend Terry asked me if Rock Sellout would be interested in helping him promote the following event:

ON SATURDAY, APRIL 19TH, 2008, THE EXCLUSIVE COMPANY, AMERICA’S OLDEST FULL-LINE RECORD STORE, ALONG WITH HUNDREDS OF INDEPENDENTLY-OWNED MUSIC STORES ACROSS THE COUNTRY WILL CELEBRATE “RECORD STORE DAY.”

On this day, all of these stores will link and act as one with the purpose of celebrating the culture and unique place that they occupy both in their local communities and nationally.

Record Store Day

The Exclusive Company, a Wisconsin based music & entertainment store, has a lot to celebrate on Record Store Day being America’s oldest full-line record store. We’ve gone from 78’s to digital downloads during our 52 year tenure and have continued to thrive in our communities thanks to music and movie lovers from Green Bay, Appleton, Oshkosh, West Bend, Milwaukee, Madison, Janesville and their surrounding communities.

The Exclusive Company hopes not only to recognize record stores such as ourselves, but also other local independent businesses in our community. We are open to partnerships on Record Store Day to help celebrate our community and the unique experiences independent businesses offer.

Not only is Record Store Day about local communities, but is getting world attention with music retailers stretching from California to Europe participating. Multi platinum group Metallica will be kicking off Record Store Day in San Francisco, CA at Rasputin Record Store, Metallica’s first in-store appearance in over a decade! Hundreds of artists including Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen, and Peter Gabriel to name a few have spoken out in support of Record Store Day sharing their passion towards independent record stores. For artist quotes and video messages visit www.recordstoreday.com.

To celebrate Exclusive Company has set up special events in each location to thank our loyal guests, honor the communities we are located in, and observe local music. On Record Store Day The Exclusive Company will be offering deals on product that is available only to independent record stores such as great DVD titles starting at $3.99 with brand new, hot releases at $9.99! No one will leave empty-handed as bags of free goodies with items that promote new formats, posters, t-shirts, buttons, new releases, exciting information on music, theatrical, and gaming releases.

The Exclusive Company on Brady & Farwell on Milwaukee’s Eastside is having an unprecedented number of bands playing at our 1669 N. Farwell location on one stage April 19th to celebrate Record Store Day! Live music starts at 11:00 am and lasts until 11:00 pm! Free samplings of some of Milwaukee’s finest beer, free food, sidewalk sale, contests, giveaways, and more!

Two of the bands performing on the 19th:

A quick note about Quinn Scharber: Not only does the lad front his own band, he also plays bass in The Nice Outfit, and regularly attends Brewers’ baseball games.
