Under The Covers: Joy Division

I thought long and hard before reviewing this band. I usually hate tribute bands, but these boys from Birmingham really are a bit special. Transmission are truly the closest chance any of us will get to seeing Joy Division live again.

Joy Division Setlist

I have had to listen to these tracks several times to take in just how close they come to recreating the sound of Joy Division and with the release of the film Control, Joy Division are being introduced to a whole new audience. As someone who considered Ian Curtis to be one of my teenage heroes, if you get a chance I would not hesitate to go and see Transmission. Judge them for yourselves, the live version of “Transmission” is frighteningly close to the original. There are more songs available on their Myspace to download if you enjoy what’s been shared here.

The lead singer kind of sounds like Joaquin Phoenix.

very close instrument wise, but nothing can match that amazing and disturbingly beautiful voice of ian curtis…but i need to check out that movie!

i put this post up starra and i do agree that no-one can match ian curtis think the boys from transmission would agree but i think they desrve full marks for trying

i heard a rumour that sam riley, who plays curtis in control, was so good in the role, that new order planned to employ him for a joy division section of their live show. whether this will now happen with the split is anyone’s guess, but they could always get the bloke who plays peter hook to take his place in the band!!

This is pure quality and so close to the real thing.
Are they playing live shows ?
